Velocity Feedback Compensation of Electromechanical Speakers for Acoustic Applications

چکیده

Electromechanical speakers are commonly used as actuators in acoustic control applications and have non-constant velocity frequency response making them poor actuators. Velocity feedback compensation designed to minimize magnitude and phase variations in speaker velocity response is developed in this work. A proportional feedback compensator acting on the error between desired velocity input and measured speaker velocity is used to drive the speaker. Speaker cone velocity is sensed using velocity induced voltage in a secondary speaker coil. Laboratory tests on a dual-wound coil subwoofer are presented to demonstrate the performance of sensor and feedback compensation. As the compensation gain is increased, the compensated speaker velocity response magnitude and phase variations are reduced. The compensated speaker velocity accurately follows any desired velocity input from 4 Hz to over 400 Hz and makes feedback compensated speakers effective acoustic control actuators.

Perturbed speech How compensation mechanisms can inform us about phonemic targets

The present study describes the results of a 2 week perturbation experiment where speakers’ vocal tract shape was modified due to the presence of an artificial palate. The aim of the work is to investigate whether speakers adapt towards acoustic or articulatory targets. Speakers were recorded regularly over the adaptation time via electromagnetic articulography and acoustics. Immediately after ...

Physico-Acoustic Study on Thermal Conductivity of Silver Nanofluid

Low transmission of heat is one of the major problems for heat exchanger fluids in many industrial and scientific applications. This includes cooling of the engines, high power transformers to heat exchangers in solar hot water panels or in refrigeration systems. In order to tackle these problems in thermal industries, nanofluids could play a significant role as excellent heat exchanger materia...

A Compensated Acoustic Actuator for Systems with Strong Dynamic Pressure Coupling

This study improves the performance of a previously developed acoustic actuator in the presence of an acoustic duct system with strong pressure coupling. The speaker dynamics and the acoustic duct dynamics are first modeled separately. The two systems are then coupled, and the resulting system is modeled. A velocity sensor is developed and used in feedback compensation. The resulting speaker sy...

Session 4pSCa: Auditory Feedback in Speech Production II 4pSCa6. The role of auditory feedback in speech development: A study of compensation strategies for a lip-tube perturbation

The role of auditory feedback in speech development was investigated through a study of compensation strategies for a lip-tube perturbation. Acoustic, articulatory, and perceptual analyses of the vowels /i/, /y/, and /u/ produced by ten 4-year-old French speakers and ten adult French speakers were conducted under two conditions: normal and with a 15-mm-diameter tube (for /y/ and /u/) or a 5-mm-...

Compensation for a labial perturbation: An acoustic and articulatory study of child and adult French speakers

This paper deals with production-perception relationships in articulatory compensation. The high French vowel [u] was used to study compensation strategies for a lip-tube perturbation in 6-year-old children and adults. Tubes were placed between the speakers’ lips to perturb vocal tract geometry. Ultrasound images and speech signals were recorded for this isolated vowel in three conditions: (1) ...
